N-RICH Research Users Online Half Day Workshop
Half Day Online Event, 12 November 2026
Thursday 12 November | 10:00am–13:00pm
The N-RICH Research Users Workshop is an opportunity to learn more about the work taking place as part of the N-RICH Prototype project, share your experiences and needs and actively contribute to the development of emerging areas of work. We are particularly interested in hearing from researchers, students, educators and other research users working with, or interested in working with, digital cultural heritage data and collections. The event will combine short presentations with interactive discussions and opportunities to provide feedback on specific N-RICH work packages. Your input will help us better understand current challenges and priorities, test emerging approaches and ensure that the N-RICH prototype work develops in ways that are meaningful and useful to research communities.
What N-RICH is?
The National Research Infrastructure for Cultural Heritage (N-RICH) Prototype is a two-year investment in the UK’s world-renowned cultural heritage collections, funded through a UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Infrastructure Fund Preliminary Activity grant awarded to the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), and delivered by the Towards a National Collection (TaNC) programme in collaboration with AHRC. Its core aim is to reduce investment risk and build the evidence base for a full National Research Infrastructure by testing whether UK cultural heritage data can be created, connected, accessed, analysed and reused at scale. For further details and an overview of the work packages commissioned head to Towards a National Collection.
What will we explore?
Throughout the session, we will explore questions such as:
- What are the main challenges researchers currently face when working with cultural heritage data for research and teaching?
- Where are the gaps in existing infrastructures, tools and services?
- What would researchers like N-RICH to enable?
- How can researchers become active contributors to the design and ongoing development of research infrastructures?
- How can infrastructure support emerging research needs as well as current research and teaching?
No prior knowledge is required. The event is designed as an opportunity to learn, discuss, test ideas and contribute. Please bring your experiences, curiosity and ideas!
